This Saturday more than 75,000 people turned out to watch the 2009 Cavalcade. It was a gorgeous sunny day with a mix of festival visitors, students and families out to enjoy the acts. This was the first time that the parade had passed through Holyrood Park, the usual route along Princess Street being closed due to tram works. The colourful procession was led by teams of motorcyclists on Harley Davidson's and Honda Gold Wings, they were followed by some excellent military bands from around Scotland who looked magnificent in their regimental tartans. Theatre troops acted out scenes from plays and songs from musicals to give people a taster of their festival shows and community floats and local bands added to the merriment. The silent performances of Chinese dragons and dancers, were a powerful addition to the hustle and bustle. Band Leader
