Prince Charlie Jacket and Waistcoat Sets are Back In-stock!

The Prince Charlie is traditionally worn with off-white socks, ghillie brogues, a full dress sporran, and a bow tie (or ruche tie depending on your preference). When wearing your waistcoat with your Prince Charlie, you normally do not wear a kilt belt as the belt and buckle are not visible.

Though named for the famous Jacobite leader, Prince Charlie jackets did not come into common usage until the 19th century, after the tartan revival initiated by Sir Walter Scott.

The classic Prince Charlie jacket and waistcoat is traditional formal attire for events such as weddings, dinners, balls, or parties. It is normally worn with an 8 yard kilt, but can also be worn with tartan trews - black is the most popular because it can be worn with any kilt regardless of what colours make up the tartan.

Prince Charlie jackets and waistcoats are hip length so they cover the top of the kilt. This product is made from 15 ounce barathea wool, and features braided epaulettes, satin lapels and square silver (nickel plated) jacket buttons.
